Frequently Asked Questions

•    •    •

I want to book a session! What's next?

You can reach me through the contact form below or contact me directly at Ambe@ambejphotography.com. We can then discuss your needs and a date that works best for you. I typically schedule around noon, but flexibility is always allowed.

Do you take a deposit? Is it refundable?

I require a $100 non-refundable deposit to confirm your appointment. You can pay the remaining balance at the end of the session.

What's the best form of payment?

Deposits must be paid via Venmo or Paypal. The remaining balance can be paid with cash, check, Venmo, or Paypal. Venmo: @ambejl

Can we chat before our session?

Of course! I love to chat with clients beforehand, just to get an idea of your goals and what you'd like to accomplish at the end of the shoot. We can also discuss your type, wardrobe, and hair ideas. As a working actor, I know what it's like to be on the other side of the camera, with the excitement as well as the anxiety you may be feeling. Not only do I want to create beautiful images with you, I want to express your authentic self and convey that in every frame.

Where do you shoot?

I shoot in my apartment studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn! So, I have access to indoor studio lighting as well as outdoor natural light. I'm a major fan of incorporating both natural light and studio lighting to give a distinct Ambe J. look. Also, weather will never be a factor, because we can always shoot indoors.

How long is a session?

My make up artist will take 1 hour for women and 20-30 min for men. The photoshoot is 2 hours.

What do I bring?

We will discuss this during our chat beforehand. But, I always suggest bringing items that you'd wear at an audition. Think about projects or character types you typically get called in for; what would you wear for that? If there's a certain color that always gets you called back or even booked, bring that! For women, I recommend, basic tank tops or t-shirts that show off a little collarbone. High cut or crew neck shirts, aren't the most flattering in photos. For men, I also recommend tank tops (to show off your guns) as well as crew neck t-shirts for a laid back look. For commercial shots, bright bold solid colors are a great way to go. Legit shots typically require darker colors as well as more structure (button downs for men and dresses for women) to convey a more dramatic look.  Again, this will be discussed and tailored for your needs.

How/When do I get my proofs?

You will receive your proofs within 7 days of your shoot. They will be in an online gallery through my website. Once received you are allowed to download your images to your computer, as well as share them with your friends, family, and/or representation.

Do I need to choose right away?

Of course not! Take your sweet time! You can make your choices when you are ready to.

Where should I print?

I recommend the following reproduction labs.

http://www.reproductions.com/
http://www.colorworksnyc.com

http://www.theactorsphotolab.com/

http://www.plate3photography.com

What's your re-shoot policy?

I don't offer free re-shoots. I use live viewing during the shoot, to allow you to see each and every photo we take, immediately. If there is something not to your liking (i.e, hair, makeup, lighting) it is your responsibility to speak up and be specific about your needs. A vocal client is a happy client. With that, if there are technical problems on my end, then I'm more than happy to offer a free re-shoot. Just know, that my makeup artist and I are here to satisfy you and make this a wonderful experience.

Do you offer sales or discounts? What are your prices?

I do! Check out my Facebook page for flash sales. Check out my rates page for pricing.

It was my first time having headshots taken and Ambe made me feel super comfortable right away. The shots exceeded my expectations and the turnaround time was fast! Highly recommended!
